Laminate Wood Flooring
Laminate flooring is based on a thin composite layer built up from several layers of impregnated paper to form the surface layer.
Laminate flooring was designed to stand up to the rigors and demands of a busy family household and when compared to other types of flooring solutions easily outperforms in almost every category. Spills and messes are easily cleaned with a little soap and water thanks to the hard moisture and wear resistant surface coating.
- 1 Underneath is a decorative layer that gives the flooring its wood-grain pattern
- 2 moisture resistant interlocked high-density fiberboard (HDF) core that maintains the structure of each plank
- 3 A tongue and groove layer
- 4 and a bottom layer has a stiff paper-based material or a laminate
The differences between manufacturers and their various products is down to the number of layers, but typically the thickness of this type of flooring is between 7 – 8mm thick.
